Happy New Year! Now that you’re getting over your hangover lets talk about your new year film resolution, that’s right – your new year film resolution!
What’s your standard resolution? Eat healthier, get fitter, quit smoking, spend more time with family…those are great resolutions, but have you ever made a career resolution?
This year lets make some career resolutions together.
I’ll share three of my New Year Film Resolutions:
1. Shoot more. I’ve been making my living mostly as a gaffer for about 5 years. In 2013 I’m going to DOP more projects. On average I have shot 3-5 projects per year, this year I will shoot at least 10.
2. Direct something. I got into this industry with the intention of becoming a director. Although I got to direct quite a lot in school, it was in a safe zone where even if I failed it didn’t matter. Now, as a professional I have the skill and resources to create some pretty cool work if I put my mind to it.
3. Make more time for this website and post more often. We have had a great first year, but we want to do more! So, we are working on a posting schedule and already have plans for dozens of new and unique posts.
What do you want to do this year? Move up within your department or even change departments? Work on a feature film? Direct?
What ever it may be please share it with us and the rest of the readers in the comments section below.
