TV Suggestion: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

January 23 By Iggy 1 Comment

Today’s suggestion is one of my favorite shows ever! Unfortunately all of my favorite shows seem to get cancelled too soon. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip only lasted one season so chances are you didn’t catch it. Studio 60 is a dramatic look behind the scenes of a sketch comedy show. Due to the success of 30 Rock, which started around the same time, Studio 60 got the axe for having content too similar. I encourage you to watch both shows and see how insanely different they are from one another. Studio 60 is a quick witted and fast paced show about the dramatic lives of the cast and crew of a fictional sketch comedy show. Other than the setting the two shows don’t have much in common. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is available from Amazon.com

The show stars Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford and was created by Aaron Sorkin, who is easily one of the best writers around these days. Studio 60 explores the relationship between the shows Executive Producers, played by Perry and Whitford, who are new to the job and dealing with the drama and controversies that come with it.

With a strong supporting cast, lead by Amanda Peet and D.L. Hughley, you get sucked into the world of late night television and you want so badly to be a part of it. The first and only season of Studio 60 consists of 22 episodes; you can fly through them in 2 days if you love it as much as I do. If you are a fan of Sorkin’s other work then I am sure you will enjoy this too. Studio 60 stands as one of my favorite shows of all time, I would definitely put it in my top 5. Check it out and let me know if you love it or hate it!
