HowToFilmSchool LIVE: 12-Week Online Filmmaking Fundamentals Course

Description

Learn filmmaking from someone who actually works in the film industry.

HowToFilmSchool LIVE is a 12-week online filmmaking course built around practical knowledge, professional production workflows, and the skills you need to better understand how films are made.

Whether you’re completely new to filmmaking, considering a career in film production, or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, HTFS LIVE offers a structured introduction to the industry without the substantial cost of traditional film school.

Led by a working film industry professional with almost two decades of experience on feature films, commercials, and professional productions, the course focuses on how things actually work on set, not just how they’re explained in textbooks.

What You’ll Learn

The course introduces the fundamental areas of filmmaking, including camera and cinematography, lighting, production departments, on-set communication, production planning, and the workflows used in professional film production.

Beyond the technical fundamentals, you’ll develop a better understanding of how different departments work together, what crew members are responsible for, and what it takes to participate effectively in a production.

The emphasis is on practical knowledge you can apply, whether you’re making your own films or preparing to work on professional sets.

Learn Live. Ask Questions. Connect.

Unlike a traditional prerecorded online course, HTFS LIVE gives you the opportunity to participate in live instruction, ask questions, and interact directly with your instructor.

You’ll also have access to a private Discord community where you can continue discussions and connect with other aspiring filmmakers throughout the course.

Who Is This Course For?

HTFS LIVE is designed for aspiring filmmakers, independent creators, film students, and anyone interested in understanding the professional film industry.

You don’t need previous film industry experience or expensive filmmaking equipment to participate.

You just need an interest in learning how films are made.

A More Accessible Approach to Film Education

Film education shouldn’t require tens of thousands of dollars in tuition.

HTFS LIVE was created to make practical filmmaking education more accessible by focusing on essential knowledge, professional experience, and direct interaction with an instructor.

This is not a college diploma program or a replacement for the experience you’ll gain working on real productions. It’s an opportunity to build a foundation, ask questions, and learn from someone with firsthand industry experience.
